As I write this post, I am sitting under a giant pile of blankets, wearing two pairs of socks. It’s amazing to think it was 75 and sunny and yesterday, because now all I really want is some cider. But the weather was nice while it lasted; I once again got no work done and instead spent all my time outside. Honestly though, it’s this kind of weather that makes every picture we take look like a brochure to come to school here (especially when you’re reading under a 200 year old oak tree). Sadly though, I think it’s time to retire the skirts for the time being, it’s gon be sweaters and scarves from here on out.

No pictures today, I’m gonna stay in my bed all day and drink tea.

today’s shoes.

sweater: H&M

striped longsleeve: Target

cords: J. Crew warehouse sale

booties: Target

socks: Target

jewelry: bracelets — handmade; watch — Cartier (hand-me-down from my Mom, don’t worry I ain’t fancy)

Sorry this is post is so very late. It is in fact, technically tomorrow, but hey, just look at it as a two for one! I’d like to say I spent the whole day doing work, but that would be a lie; I actually went to Dillo, sat out in the quad, and threw leaves in the air. But still, that’s a different kind of productivity. Me and Carson decided to switch up the photo location today; Chapel Hill seriously has one of the prettiest campuses in the fall.

I don’t really know what to do with this weather, considering it went from 45 to 75 today, so my answer was….layers! I know, I’m so creative. Hopefully it will be a little more manageable tomorrow….

Until then, go outside!!

PS: Thanks to all yous guys who followed from the other URL…sorry that was confusing.

By the way, this is my trusty cameraman. Good picture, right? And by good, I mean slightly embarrassing.

I know what you may be thinking. “Ah, yes, Lauren is a Latin American politics major, so this outfit must be her own personal homage to Pancho Villa.” Well, as good of a guess as that is, I’m sorry to report that that isn’t true (…well, maybe a little bit). The truth of the matter is, I kind of have a love affair with capes. There are so many amazing ones this season, but unfortunately, I don’t think this trend has trickled down enough for me to really have the selection I want for the price I want (although this Burberry one is particularly beautiful, if any generous billionaires casually stumble upon this blog). I’ve been looking for a while at cheaper stores, and as luck would have it, this lil beauty popped up as soon as I entered H&M this weekend. In a perfect world, I’d really like a cleaner camel colored afghan-esque one, but I don’t think Chapel Hill is really ready for all that, I got a few weird looks today as it is.

And I’m sure you’re not surprised to see my boots for a second day in a row. Believe me, you will make friends with them; these puppies are never leaving my feet.

Peace out home fry. Go buy yourself a cape so I don’t look silly all by myself! They’re good for twirling around in/roleplaying traditional Central American society/pretending to be Batman. Plus they’re warm. What more could you want for in this world?

shirt: Fleet Foxes online merch

sweater: J. Crew

pants: Target

boots: Frye

socks: Target

bag: Target

jewelry: bracelets- homemade (except for the bangle and watch, obviously); rings- snake is from Claire’s, other one is a random piece of metal that fell off of a door hinge that I wear as a ring. I’m weird.

I like to think that this outfit says “Hello. I may look a little bit like an indie hobo/grandpa, but I promise I’m normal and I don’t smell weird. Let’s be friends.”

But in all honesty, I woke up in quite a funk this morning and I just wanted to be comfortable. Coming back from New York was even harder than it usually is, and I just didn’t have the brain capacity to pick out something actually cute (and I was conveniently wearing this T-shirt as pajamas. I know you won’t care.)

However, I did buy a lot of stuff in New York (like you’re surprised), so hopefully you’ll be seeing it throughout the week. I did debut my most exciting/spontaneous/ridiculous purchase today, which were the Frye boots. Seriously, is it possible to be in love with leather goods? I’m talking like passionate, wanting to settle down and have baby boots kind of love. This is the real deal. They were (way) more than I normally spend on….well, anything, really, but they will last forever and, to be frank, might as well be Dior to a girl who’s been wearing Target boots for years. I can already tell that they’re never going to fall apart, and they are the most wonderfully beautiful chocolate brown that has ever existed. Oh yeah, plus they were on SALE. So yeah, I kinda like em.

Hopefully this week will pass by as quickly as possible, as I am being buried alive by homework. I should probably shut off my Al Green, get off Tumblr, and go do that now…

Au revoir tumblr land.

shirt: Forever 21

pants: Madewell

boots: Target

socks: Target

jacket: New Haven Supply Co. via J. Crew

necklaces: Urban Outfitters (clock), Forever 21 (bone/tooth thing)

Who knew Chapel Hill was located in a tropical rainforest? Not me. You know that thing when you go outside and you feel like you’re in mother nature’s sweaty locker room, except instead of built athletes all around there’s just angry sorostitutes in Hunter boots? That was today, and the reason my hair looks like a nest in the back (or at least, that’s what I’ll use to justify it). It was gross enough that I almost didn’t do these pictures, but I said I would do a blog and by Zeus I will not fail!

On the plus side I’m very pleased with this jacket, it’s light, but would be plenty warm with a sweater underneath. Not to mention that it was…25 DOLLARS. FROM J. CREW. I’m so proud of this deal I was tempted to shout it at random passersby, but I restrained myself.

Another secret: these aren’t socks. They are 80s glittery legwarmers, that once unrolled, go up to my thigh. So that’s a nice visual for you. Haha I like the chunky knit though, and when I roll them down, they’re nice and subdued. Hopefully.

Hope your day had a lower dew point than mine!

shirt: Forever 21

skirt: ASOS

boots (booties? shoeboots? shooties? someone help me out here): Target

necklaces: Melrose Trading Post (skull/bone), Forever 21 (bird)

other jewelry: watch from eBay, bangles from Roman street market this summer

So I gotta say, I wasn’t really feeling this outfit this morning. I couldn’t get it right; first I had on tall boots and socks, then a belt, then too many necklaces, then I was almost late to my Latin American politics class. I came back after class and took off the boots, because they didn’t work and it was also like 80 degress (Weather. I’ve discussed this with you already. Get your ass in gear and be cold)  and I took off all that extra crap and it was better.

Anyway, this was the final result. I kind of feel like a fifties schoolgirl in this skirt, but hey, who doesn’t want to feel like that every once in while? (answer: probably politicians. People like Barack Obama, or Mussolini. Who’s in my state by the way, isn’t that cool (Obama, not Mussolini). This has been a tangent.)

Also, I’ll share a secret with you guys, only because I like you so much: I was secretly wearing athletic socks. With desert boots. I was too lazy to find some other socks in the hole that is my closet, and if you had taken my shoes off, you would’ve seen two mismatched Nikes, one of which I’m pretty sure is my father’s.

Hope your day has been as fun as mine (note the twirly picture. this is idiotic happiness people)

Hasta mañana
